Nature & Biodiversity
Alwoodley is blessed with unique and ample green space, and so, if properly cared for, we have the opportunity to recover lost nature and biodiversity and also implement nature-based solutions to reduce carbon. There are so many ways to get involved:
On 19th November, , 6pm - 7:30 at St Barnabas Church. we'll be hosting the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust to present findings of the Yorkshire State of Nature Report, specifically focusing on North Leeds and what communities can do to fit into a local Nature Recovery Plan. The event will be:
a convening of all of our local friends of groups to be better networked
a forum for rich conversation about the State of Nature and how we can join up with a wider nature recovery plan
highly visible - hopefully turning out new members for our Friends of Groups that need new members, and engaging more people in wanting to look after our area.
Get involved with existing friends of groups: Friends of Adel Woods, Friends of Wigton Moor, Friends of Nursery Heath, Friends of Gair Woods, or Friends of Verity Copse to help look after local green spaces in Alwoodley. Contact info@alwoodley2030.org to get connected.
Do you live near a green space with no volunteer group looking after it? Want to help? Please let us know.
