Alwoodley is blessed with unique and ample green space, and so, if properly cared for, we have the opportunity to recover lost nature and biodiversity and also implement nature-based solutions to reduce carbon. There are so many ways to get involved:
April Bio-Blitz. Target - 1000 observations. Can you be on of 100 people to use the iNaturalist app to make 10 Nature observations? Sign up here.
Visit over 20 Nature-Friendly gardens on our Open Nature Friendly Gardens Day on 11th May!
Pledge to participate in No Mow May next month, print your sign and get it ready to display in your front garden.
Get Growing Veg together with neighbours with Alwoodley Incredible Edible.
Freshen up the air we breathe. Make a Pledge to Walk, Cycle or Scoot to school with your primary school children during the Ward Wide Walk to School Week.
Get involved with existing friends of groups: Friends of Adel Woods, Friends of Wigton Moor, Friends of Nursery Heath, Friends of Gair Woods, or Friends of Verity Copse to help look after local green spaces in Alwoodley.
Do you live near a green space with no volunteer group looking after it? Want to help? Please let us know.
Join the 100 Nature Friendly Gardens Club to foster biodiversity on your own private land.
Join the Alwoodley Orchardists to look after local fruit trees and plant new ones across Alwoodley.
