We're encouraging nature-friendly gardening and the development of nature-corridors all across Alwoodley, and espeically along our first target wildflower corridor! But how will we know if our individual efforts make a difference to wildlife? Let's bio-blitz! On the afternoon of 7th June we invite you to take part in part or all of the following bio-blitz activities.
Deep Dive - Learn all about the importance of measuring biodiversity in our residential areas and leave feeling equipped to co-create a much-needed inventory of local plant and animal species.
Walk and Chalk - Identify species along Nursery Lane, Fir Trees, Lingfields (Route TBD), and chalk them on the pavement so others will learn too!
1 metre observation - Did you sow a 1-sq metre wildflower patch as part of our nature corridors campaign? Come and learn how to use iNaturalist and other tools to observe a 1-metre patch. Then, we encourage you to go home and observe your square metre or any other patch alaong the corridor. We're hoping to look at both land and pond based areas.
Set aside an hour to watch your new wildflower patch or anywhere in your garden or in a park and observe plant and animal species.
